Q: On the old Georgia Power bill, they showed how much they charge per kilowatt. On the new bill, they show how much you’ve used, but not how much they charge per kilowatt. Can you find out why they stopped showing how much they charge?
-- Franklin Moss, Marietta
A: Georgia Power changed the format for its bill late last year in response to feedback from its customers, who wanted a more user-friendly, informative statement "to make smart energy choices," Georgia Power spokeswoman Carol Boatright told Q&A on the News in an email. "One of our chief goals with the new statement is to give customers more detail about their actual electricity consumption," she said. "By reviewing the 13-month graph on their bill, customers are able to compare current monthly usage with previous months to identify usage patterns. A dollar amount per kilowatt-hour does not necessarily accomplish that." Boatright said the new statement provides energy-management ideas and highlights free online energy-saving tools. Q: Do you know when the new international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is scheduled to open? It says spring 2012, but do you all have a more specific date?
-- Alex Oliver, Atlanta
A: Duriya Farooqui, Atlanta's chief operating officer, recently told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "Based on the current status, we are still planning on a mid-May date." No specific date has been set, but the airport hopes to "announce one shortly," an airport spokesman told Q&A on the News in an email.
