When reports first surfaced Thursday that the I-85 bridge was on fire, metro Atlantans everywhere began wondering how it would affect them.

Then the unthinkable happened.

The bridge collapsed, instantly dealing an economic blow to the city and a logistical nightmare to commuters.

The incident created many questions, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will strive to answer them Friday (and beyond).

Here are the questions we’ll tackle first:

1. Who is to blame for the fire?

2. Why couldn't GDOT come up with a comprehensive commuting plan Thursday night so that commuters would know their options?

3. Why did DeKalb County school officials decide to cancel all classes when only a small portion of the county was affected by the bridge fire?

4. What is the impact on nearby businesses and offices?
