After several weeks of unseasonably warm weather, metro Atlanta’s temperatures will return to near-normal levels later this week, with lows dipping into the 30s and highs climbing only into the 50s.
Atlanta’s normal high for this part of February is 55 degrees, the normal low 36.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton is predicting a high of 60 degrees on Wednesday, 55 on Thursday and 58 on Friday. The low early Wednesday will be around 43, but temperatures early Thursday and Friday will be in the mid- to upper 30s.
The weekend should be even colder, with highs on Saturday around 53 degrees, following an overnight low in the mid-30s. Saturday night, we could see lows at or just below the freezing mark, forecasters said.
So far this month, Atlanta’s daily average temperature has been anywhere from 9 to 16 degrees warmer than normal.
The last time Atlanta’s average temperature was below normal was on Jan. 29, when the average of 43 was 1 degree cooler than normal. Before that day, you have to go back a couple of weeks to mid-January to find the average temperature below normal.
