Brisk winds early Thursday made temperatures in the low 30s feel even colder, but helped dry puddles from Wednesday's rain before the mercury dipped near or below the freezing mark.

While the National Weather Service warned of the possibility of black ice on bridges and overpasses in north Georgia, no icing had been reported to the AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB Traffic Center through 6 a.m.

Temperatures across metro Atlanta at 6 a.m. ranged from 31 degrees in Alpharetta and Dallas to 33 in Chamblee, Marietta and Peachtree City. The temperature was also 33 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, but north winds at 13 mph dropped the wind chill to 24 degrees.

In extreme north Georgia, it was 28 in Blairsville and Lafayette, while Blue Ridge reported 29 degrees.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said skies will be sunny on Thursday, with temperatures reaching the low 50s before dropping back into the 30s Thursday night.

Friday through Sunday will be sunny, with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the mid-30s.
