Two 19-year-old men have been accused of raping two girls they met in a church youth group, Woodstock police said. Police say there could be more victims.
While police were at an apartment complex investigating a burglary, two 14-year-old girls revealed to investigators that they had been sexually assaulted, Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.
Both girls told police they were assaulted on the evening of Aug. 6 in the Skyridge Apartments off Highway 92, Duncan said. The girls had met the suspects in the His Hands Church youth group, police said.
Following an investigation, police arrested Jonathan Marshall Carrier and Yancey Obrain Tanner, both of Woodstock, Duncan said.
Carrier is charged with statutory rape, child molestation, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Tanner faces four counts of statutory rape and five counts of aggravated child molestation, along with one count of marijuana possession.
Both Carrier and Tanner are in the Cherokee County jail, Duncan said.
Anyone with information about related crimes is asked to contact Woodstock police at 770-592-6030.
