A 16-year-old girl was kidnapped from her southeast Atlanta home early Thursday by men who were apparently looking for the boyfriend of the teen's mother.

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said seven armed suspects, some wearing masks, entered a home in the 700 block of Terry Street before 2:30 a.m., "demanding to know the whereabouts of a man apparently dating the 16-year-old's mother."

"The suspects took one of the residents, a 21-year-old male, in an attempt to locate the man," Campos told the AJC.

"They brought the 21-year-old back to Terry Street when they could not locate him," he said. "The suspects then took the 16-year-old female and took her to a home in Lithonia where they believed the man they were searching for resided."

The man the suspects were looking for ran out the back door of the Lithonia home, Campos said.

"The suspects left the 16-year-old with her mother at the Lithonia location and fled the scene," Campos said.

He said none of the victims was physically harmed.
