An 18-year-old was under the influence when he caused a wreck that killed a high school football player, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Dylan Ross Turner, of Dallas, has been charged with first degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, failing to maintain lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and possession of marijuana for causing the wreck Saturday that killed 15-year-old Zachary Williamson, the state patrol said.

Turner was driving a Dodge Neon on Old Cartersville Road in Paulding County when he crossed the center line and hit a Jeep Wrangler, police said. He was transported to the Paulding County jail, but has been released on $44,334 bond, Cpl. Brandon Gurley with the sheriff's office told the AJC.

Zachary, of Dallas, was a passenger in the Jeep, which overturned upon impact, police said. Zachary, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene after being ejected.

The Jeep's driver and another passenger were not seriously injured, police said.

Zachary, a sophomore at North Paulding High School, played football and was on the wrestling team. His funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at West Ridge Church in Dallas.

A scholarship has been established in Zachary's name, according to the high school's website.
