An 11.5-inch zebra shark pup hatched at the Georgia Aquarium Thursday, and the moment was preserved on video.

The newborn can be seen emerging from an egg case and quickly swimming around a tank.

Zebra sharks, an endangered species, can grow to up to 12 feet.

Female zebra sharks lay large dark brown or purplish-black egg cases, which are also called mermaid's purses.

The Aquarium houses five zebra sharks in its Ocean Voyager gallery.
