Two Cobb libraries - one new, one renovation - will open on Sept. 3.
North Cobb Regional Library will open Sept. 3, with a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony at 2 p.m. Sept. 5.
The new library will include creative space, a community room, study rooms, dedicated children and teen areas, an outdoor plaza for children, state-of-the-art technology and a drive-up book return.
North Cobb Regional Library, 3535 Old 41 Highway, Acworth is across from North Cobb High School at the corner of Old 41 Highway and Blue Springs Road.
Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St., Marietta, is undergoing major renovations and will reopen with limited services on Sept. 3.
These limited services at Switzer will include:
- Small collections of adult, youth and media material available for checkout
- Returns via book drop
- Hold pickup
- Account management
- Small number of public computers
- Printing and photocopying
- 3D printer services
- Small collection for the Georgia Room and two microfilm readers
- Phone service
New features of the renovated Switzer library will include:
- Two maker spaces – one for adults, one for teens
- Dedicated teen space
- Family computing space on the main floor
- New children's programming room
- Outdoor plaza next to the Children's Room with seating and garden area
- Relocation to Switzer Library of Windy Hill Library's special needs collection and services
- Enlarged Georgia Room
