DeKalb police and the SWAT team were on the scene of a standoff at a Stone Mountain apartment complex late Friday night, Channel 2 Action News reported.

An armed man was refusing to leave a unit in the Mountain Springs apartments in the 800 block of Sheppard Road.

Police were told that the man had held an assault riffle to a person's head, but the person was able to grab a knife, stab the suspect and flee the apartment, Channel 2 said.

As of 11 p.m., authorities had been on the scene for more than two and a half hours, the station said.

No other information was immediately available.
