Suwanee recently bought two parcels of land, totaling 15 acres and almost $1.2 million.
City officials closed this week on a 2.9-acre parcel behind Chicago Street and adjacent to Town Center. Purchased for about $450,000, the property will be used for additional parking and may potentially become an extension of Town Center.
Earlier this month, the Gwinnett County municipality of 16,500 bought 12 acres on Smithtown Road from Evergreen Presbyterian Church for about $725,000. Purchased as a future park site, the city has no immediate plans for the property.
"While land costs are at a reasonable rate, the city is taking advantage of opportunities that have presented themselves," City Manager Marty Allen said.
