Suwanee has a lease agreement with Norfolk Southern Railway Company reflecting use of about half an acre of land along the Main Street side of the railroad between Suwanee Dam Road and Russell Street. Recently Norfolk Southern reviewed their files and submitted an updated lease proposal to the city that more accurately reflects the used area as 2.86 acres. The new agreement and will replace the existing one from March 18, 1992.

The lease amount has increased from the existing rate of $240/year to the new lease rate of $1,200/year. Terms of the new agreement begin March 18, 2020, with yearly adjustments to the rental rate based on the U.S. consumer price index and tenant insurance provided by the city.
