Two men charged in a string of recent armored car robberies are expected to have their first court appearance Friday morning.

Stacey Lamont Dooley and Quinton Lamar Booker are scheduled to go before a judge at the Gwinnett County Jail at 9 a.m.

The two were arrested Wednesday morning near the Gwinnett-Fulton County line. They are charged each charged with three counts of armed robbery, Gwinnett police spokesman Jake Smith said.

Dooley was also charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and charges against other suspects are likely, Smith said.

He could not say whether the men would be charged with the killing of an armored car guard earlier this month outside the Toco Hill Kroger store, because that robbery and shooting occurred in DeKalb County.

Booker and Dooley were arrested near Peachtree Parkway at Wellington Lake Drive near Gwinnett-Fulton County line by police and FBI agents. The suspects were driving a red Chevrolet Impala that crashed just before the arrests.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC, the pair had placed a Loomis Armored truck under surveillance on Monday; they then drove to a Food Depot and waited for the armored truck to arrive, but then abandoned plans to rob the truck.

The men are charged in connection with three armored car heists in Gwinnett, Smith said. The first of those robberies occurred at the Bank of America at the Mall of Georgia on Nov. 11, he said. The second was at the Wells Fargo bank in Centerville on Nov.29.

The third Gwinnett robbery happened on Dec. 7  inside the Mall of Georgia. In that robbery, an armed guard fired one round at the suspects, Smith said.

"The suspects' [method of operation] in these cases was to wait until the armored car guards were outside of their vehicle," Smith said. "In all three of the cases in Gwinnett, the guards were refilling ATMs."

He said that Gwinnett police detectives took the lead in the investigation after the killing of a guard earlier this month in Dekalb County.

"Due to the efforts of GCPD, the FBI and DeKalb police, the suspects were not able to complete any additional robberies, and were prevented from completing two which they had planned," Smith said.
