An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of using a Cobb County rental home as a place to grow marijuana.
When Christopher M. Scherer allegedly failed to pay rent or communicate with his landlord, the homeowner entered the Holly Springs Road home, near Marietta, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC. And when the homeowner saw plants hanging inside the house, he called Cobb County police, who obtained a search warrant.
There was no furniture or food inside the home. Instead, police found more than 100 live marijuana plants, 15 dried plants and items including timers, lamps, moisturizing systems, ventilation systems and hydroponic equipment used in what is described as an extension grow operation.
Scherer, who was the only name on the lease, has not yet been booked into the Cobb County Jail, according to records. Once arrested, bond will be set at $15,000 for the charge of manufacturing marijuana, the warrant states.
