A suspect has been charged with the rape of a woman at a Gwinnett County apartment complex.
Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said Tuesday that Lorenzo Bradley, 40, was arrested Friday in connection with the attack on a woman at the Bristol Court apartments near Norcross on March 18. Smith said Bradley, who lived in the same complex as the victim, was identified through DNA evidence collected at the rape scene and a drawing compiled by a neighbor and a GBI sketch artist.
The victim told police that she awakened in her apartment to find a masked man standing over her with a gun. The attacker tied her up and raped her, then collected her clothing and bedding and set them on fire in the bathtub, Smith said.
He then disabled the smoke detector and attempted to clean the victim of DNA evidence, Smith said. The victim was able to untie herself and call police after the attacker fled.
Bradley was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of burglary, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a firearm during a crime, aggravated sodomy, battery, criminal trespass and arson.
He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County jail.
