Georgia’s stormy week will be followed by a beautiful, sunny weekend, with no rain forecast for metro Atlanta until early next week.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said weekend highs will be in the low 80s, with overnight lows in the mid- to upper 50s.

Minton said there’s a 30 percent chance of rain on Monday, increasing to 40 percent on Tuesday.

With dry weather in the forecast, several ongoing interstate road construction projects will be cranking up again this weekend.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said the three left lanes of I-75 in both directions will be shut down for repaving between Cumberland Boulevard and the Techwood/14th Street/10th Street exits from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

Also closed by the repaving project will be the ramps to and from Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road, along with the ramps to and from Cumberland Boulevard.

On the west side, the two left lanes of I-20 in both directions between Thornton Road and Riverside Parkway will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, while in DeKalb County, construction will take up the two left lanes of I-85 in both directions between Clairmont and Chamblee Tucker roads throughout the weekend.

All of that construction could cause big delays for motorists headed downtown for a full slate of weekend events that include Braves games on Friday night and Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Other weekend events include Sunday’s Fiesta Atlanta festival at Centennial Olympic Park, the 40th annual Inman Park Spring Festival running Friday through Sunday, the March of Dimes March for Babies on Sunday at the Georgia World Congress Center and the Walk for Lupus Now on Saturday at Piedmont Park.
