Metro Atlanta’s streak of summerlike weather will continue on Sunday with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-80s.

As drier air moves in, the second half of the weekend won’t feel quite as humid, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

While Sunday should be rain free and slightly less muggy, it will still be hot.

“It’ll be quiet and dry for the next few days, but the heat isn’t going anywhere,” Deon said. “It’s definitely a good day to get out and enjoy the sunshine, but do it early if you want to beat the heat.”

Sunday started off in the low-60s ahead of an afternoon high of about 84 degrees.

Things will cool off slightly on Monday before warming up to 90 degrees by midweek, Deon said. The good news, however, is that no rain is expected for the next four days.

As for traffic, Cobb County drivers should expect overnight lane closures in the northbound lanes of I-75 as Georgia Department of Transportation crews repair the bridge over Barrett Parkway.

A similar project on I-85 South in Atlanta will cause overnight delays as repairs are made to a 4,000-foot bridge over Piedmont Road. Three left lanes will be closed between the Buford Highway Connector Ramp and Ga. 400.

Both projects are expected to wrap up by 5 a.m. Monday.
