Fewer students enrolled in summer semester classes at the University of Georgia, according to figures released Friday. Total enrollment is 14,812 students -- a 5.8 percent drop from last year. The dip was focused at the Athens campus where 13,983 students took summer classes, a decrease of 766 from last year. Enrollment at the extended campuses, which include sites in Gwinnett and Buckhead, increased by 13.1 percent to 723 students total. Another 106 students are taking independent study.
