A subdivision of 93 homes near Tramore Park on the East-West Connector was approved 5-0 Tuesday by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. Hicks Business Enterprises will be the developer of this 41-acre subdivision on the south side of Hurt Road.

With nearly four units per acre, the single-family detached homes will have a homeowners association, pool, cabana and clubhouse, said applicant attorney Kevin Moore. Costs will begin in the low $200,000s with 1,800 to 2,800 square feet and greater for each home, Moore said.

A “rumored” grave of one Civil War soldier could not be found on the property by R.S. Webb and Associates, the “go-to cemetery firm,” that was hired by the applicant, Moore added. Also, county staff could not find the grave.

Opponents voiced concerns about increasing traffic due to the development. Amy Diaz of Cobb Department of Transportation said negative effects on Hurt Road traffic would be “relatively minimal” with no fatalities in the past three years due to traffic accidents on that road.
