Kicking off a Georgia Tech research program, students have pulled 50 tires from Buckhead creek beds to be used for the thermal mass walls in a new experimental facility that aims to recycle 1,000 pounds of food waste per day. The Buckhead Coalition, a civic group, has pledged $2,500 for the clean-up. The Buckhead Coalition and Georgia Tech are teaming up to help fund an "ArkFab" facility to raise fish in tanks with plants cultivated to grow in water. The tires are to be used to build insulating walls made of tires for the facility.
