Police have arrested a teenager accused of fatally shooting a DeKalb County man last week during an argument.

Shaquell Heppard, 18, of Stone Mountain was charged with murder in the March 12 shooting death of DeAngelo Hickson, according to DeKalb County jail records.

Heppard was arrested Friday afternoon by DeKalb Sheriff's deputies, according to jail records.

The shooting happened about 10:20 p.m. at the Mountain Crest Apartments  in the 1000 block of North Hairston Road. Officers found Hickson, 21,  in the breezeway of an apartment building, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Hickson was taken to a DeKalb Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

DeKalb police Lt. A.B. Catlin said Hickson had been involved in an ongoing dispute with Heppard.

Catlin said Heppard shot Hickson before fleeing in a silver Chevrolet Impala.
