A high-speed chase -- on a flat tire -- that started Friday afternoon in Cobb County ended in southwest Atlanta with one person in custody and police searching for another suspect.

Just before 1:30 p.m., police patrolling the Town Center Mall parking lot spotted a four-door Lexus that had been reported stolen, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said. As officers approached the vehicle, the car sped away with two men inside.

"The vehicle had one flat tire shortly after getting on the road at Town Center," Pierce said.

The men in the stolen Lexus led police on a chase southbound on I-75 and around the western arc of I-285, with speeds at times in excess of 100 mph, police said.

Georgia State Patrol troopers joined the chase, and the vehicle exited I-285 at the Donald L. Hollowell Parkway, Pierce said. Then, "a second tire blew, and the men bailed out," he said.

Officers assisted by police dogs have since arrested one of the suspects. His name and charges against him were not immediately available. The second suspect remained at large Friday afternoon.
