The city of Stockbridge and the Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority want to help ex-offenders get back into the work world.

The two will host a job fair for people who have served their sentences from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Merle Manders Conference Center at 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge.

At the event, ex-offenders will be get to speak with potential employers and community service providers as well as participate in job readiness training, counseling and legal assistance.

“We encourage those men and women looking for another chance in society to join us for the occasion,” Stockbkridge Mayor Anthony Ford said in a statement. “We want to see all community members succeed in life.”

Debra Abernathy, president of the Henry County Delta sorority, said, “Employment and critical life skills are essential for individuals to be able to provide a better life for their families. Come out to learn more about your rights and options.”
