Oral arguments before the Georgia Supreme Court in Stockbridge’s lawsuit over the Eagle’s Landing cityhood legislation are scheduled for Oct. 9, according to the court’s docket information on its website.

The city filed a motion to expedite Sept. 11 so that the matter would not be delayed until after the November referendum. Stockbridge is appealed a decision in Henry County Superior Court to let the referendum proceed. Since the creation of a new city of Eagle’s Landing under the law passed in this year’s Georgia General Assembly session would de-annex property currently in Stockbridge, that city filed suit on constitutional grounds to stop it.
