Peachtree City has installed speed humps on the multi-use path at one of its busiest public parks. As noted at the June 18 City Council meeting and shown in a new Facebook video, the devices are meant to control the speed of golf carts at Battery Way Park on Lake Peachtree.

The path is also used by pedestrians and cyclists; the initial humps are placed near the playground but more might be installed elsewhere. City officials said they are responding to ongoing complaints about golf carts speeding through the often crowded area. The speed humps are spaced 32 inches apart to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, so that bicycles, wheelchairs, scooters and other personal mobility devices can pass between them.

The devices are among other new efforts aimed at improving safety on the city’s more than 100 miles of paths.
