Some Gwinnett events canceled due to continued cold weather

Snow has yet to fall in Gwinnett County, but some local events have been canceled due to the cold weather expected to persist through Wednesday.

The city of Duluth has canceled all of its Parks and Recreation department’s scheduled events, classes and activities for Tuesday evening. Buford High School canceled boys’ and girls’ basketball games at Loganville High School, but rescheduled them for Jan. 30.

Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing around 6 p.m. and stay there until mid-morning Wednesday, which could increase the risk of black ice. The National Weather Service has canceled a winter weather advisory for metro Atlanta.

Despite a forecast of snow and ice, Gwinnett County government and city governments within the county did not close Tuesday. The snow and ice mostly did not materialize.
