The Snellville City Council agreed Monday to plans for 12Stone Church to hold services at the former Best Buy location at 1709 Scenic Highway.

Despite ongoing concerns about traffic along the busy thoroughfare, the mayor and council members agreed to the church’s proposal to hold two services each Sunday with 750 to 800 people at the 46,000 square-foot facility on five and a half acres.

Councilmember Bobby Howard recused himself from the vote since he is a 12Stone Church member.

12Stone Church currently has nine locations in Gwinnett and anticipates drawing members from the Brookwood High School congregation to this new location on Scenic Highway. The church plans on spending about $1 million to remodel and upgrade the location, including landscape and façade improvements.
