A recycling center has opened at 3475 Lake Drive, replacing the former center on Smyrna Hill Drive that opened in 1991. The $1.5 million cost includes land, building and equipment.

Keep Smyrna Beautiful obtained permission from the Smyrna City Council to convert the old Sanitation Department facility on Lake Drive into the new recycling center. The new center accepts a wider range of plastics because of the ability to sort and bale the material now.

This bigger facility of 7,200 square feet on nearly one acre has a better traffic flow and consolidates the Keep Smyrna Beautiful department under one roof. Croy Engineering designed traffic flow and efficient material handling, combining best features from the Roswell and Snellville Recycling Centers.
