Six Marietta businesses were cited for selling alcohol to underage buyers in a recent compliance check, the Marietta Police Department announced this week.

Police visited 30 businesses during the operation on Jan. 28. The underage buyers who assisted police did not provide false identification or misrepresent their age to the clerk. Police said it is the responsibility of the seller to check ID and refuse sales to underage persons.

The following businesses were cited for selling to minors: Chevron at 400 Cobb Parkway; Bells Ferry Package at 1750 Bells Ferry Road; Racetrac at 2466 Delk Road; Shell at 2365 Delk Road; Chevron at 811 S. Marietta Parkway ; and Citgo Food Mart at 574 Roswell St.
