Six Flags begins search to hire 3,000 workers for 2019 season

We couldn't limit ourselves to showcasing only five cool things about Six Flags, so here are SIX things you should know about the park.

The roller coasters don’t just get off the ground themselves at Six Flags Over Georgia. They need some help.

That’s why the Austell amusement park has begun hiring 3,000 workers for its 2019 season, which starts March 9. Many of the positions will end when the season does in early 2020, said park spokeswoman Divina Mims-Puckett.

The Six Flags hiring center opened Monday and will be open every day from 1 to 7 p.m. until Saturday, according to a news release from the park.

Mims-Puckett said pay for entry-level positions begins at $8, and no experience is needed because employees will be trained.

There was a hiring event over the weekend looking for managers that was well-attended, she said.

The park will hold a hiring fair for those age 15 and older on Saturday to fill the following positions: food service, guest relations, games, rides, retail, admissions, security, park services and marketing.

Those interested should apply at the Six Flags website.

In 2018, the park held job fairs to hire 3,200. The year before, that number was 3,100.

Six Flags has long been one of the area’s largest seasonal employers of teens.

Beyond the normal need for workers, Puckett said the park expects lots of interest in a new ride set to open near the start of the season called “Pandemonium.”

The 15-story pendulum ride sends about 40 people to-and-fro at 70 mph.

“It’s a great time to be a part of the park and watch the unveiling,” she said.

The ride will anchor the park’s new area, which will be themed in the style of steampunk, the genre of science fiction featuring steam-powered technology from the 19th century made modern.
