The United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta will kick off its sixth annual Shoebox Project, which encourages groups and individuals to donate shoeboxes filled with toiletries for the homeless.

Items needed include toothbrushes, lotion, deodorant and lip balm. Those items will be distributed to women and children at homeless shelters.

The campaign run Feb. 14 through May 8.

Shoeboxes can be dropped off at the area United Way office. If you have more than 150 shoeboxes, the agency will schedule pickup through FedEx.
