Four science teachers in Marietta will receive $4,000 grants from the city school system

The "Performance Incentive Award" encourages innovations that raise "student achievement on external assessments" and was restricted to teachers from sixth to 12th grades, according to the school system. Seven applied for the grant.

The winners -- Thomas Monti at Marietta Middle School, Julie Schunck at Marietta Sixth Grade Academy and Marietta High teachers Celis Hartley-Lewis and Stephanie Davis-Howard -- will be awarded at the Aug. 16 meeting of the city school board, which starts at 7 p.m.
