Cobb County’s food and nutrition division was recognized with a “Best Practices Award” for developing a vending machine program that lets students select sub sandwiches, salads, fruits and juices electronically. The program was first tested at Wheeler and Campbell high schools and is now in seven schools. Students like the machines because they cut down on the time spent waiting in line at lunch, according to the district. The award was handed out by Horizon Software International, a food services software provider.
