The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a $2.5 million contract with Vertical Earth to make streetscape improvements to Sandy Springs Circle, pending approval by the city legal and finance departments and Georgia Department of Transportation.

Vertical Earth submitted the lowest of four bids for the project, which extends from Hammond Drive to Mount Vernon Highway. Plans call for site grading, retaining wall construction, sidewalks, driveway aprons, curbs and gutters, on-street parking, pedestrian-scale lighting and erosion control measures, according to a staff report to the council.

The project will be funded through a combination of local funds and federal funds through GDOT. Staff hopes to see Georgia Power mobilize in the next few weeks to begin underground work, with a notice to proceed likely given to Vertical Earth in late October, Public Works Director Marty Martin told council members.
