Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul and a local political/business delegation are back from a weeklong trip to the city’s newest sister city area: 11 communities in Israel called the Western Galilee Cluster.
Paul said the delegation focused on three areas for further cooperation: high tech innovation, medical technology and health care programs and tourism. Paul said talks already centered on how high tech and medical interests in Sandy Springs could work with the Israelis, including exchanging information on handling mass casualty disasters.
During the trip, Israeli and Sandy Springs officials signed a 5-year agreement to further develop such ties. Sandy Springs will host an Israeli delegation next year. The mayor said the clusters also agreed to use Sandy Springs and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as U.S. gateways
