Gwinnett commissioners recently approved a $156,450 annual contract to purchase safety shoes for the departments of community services, planning and development, transportation and water resources.

For the Department of Planning and Development safety shoes are purchased for Code Enforcement Officers, Building Inspectors and Development Inspectors to protect them from hazards they might encounter at various job sites.

According to county documents, an analysis revealed market prices have increased by approximately 4%. However, the current vendor, Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Co., agreed to hold pricing firm for the upcoming contract period.
