Runaway pig still unclaimed
The Cobb County runaway pig is off the streets. But it's still not home.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the owner had not come forward to claim the pig from animal control, Officer Joe Hernandez with Cobb County police told the AJC.
The small, black pig was captured Sunday morning near I-75 and Chastain Road following a four-day search in the area. Cobb County police officers and animal control officials tried to capture the pig to avoid any potential wrecks on the interstate, Hernandez said.
But the animal was able to elude capture for several days, running into nearby woods just north of Town Center Mall.
If an owner does not claim the pig after seven days, the animal can be adopted or turned over to an animal rescue group, like any other domestic animal that comes into the shelter, Hernandez said. The animal will not be euthanized, officials said.
