Roswell offers emergency response training to residents

Roswell residents have an opportunity to become part of the city’s Community Emergency Response Team, as the Roswell Fire Department is taking applications from volunteers for the next round of training.
Eight classes will meet from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 5, officials said. Most classes will be held at Fire Station 7, 8025 Holcomb Bridge Road. The program is open to Roswell residents only. Participants learn such basic disaster response skills as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
“This training will allow CERT members to assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help,” according to a city announcement. “CERT members will also be encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.”
CERT applications are available at: http://www.roswellgov.com/fire or by contacting Lt. Ed Botts at ebotts@roswellgov.com
