A Roswell man was arrested Tuesday after a school police officer spotted a gun in the backseat floorboard of his car.

Charles Lewis Marsh, 54, is not an employee or a parent at East Cobb Middle School and did not have a reason to be on campus, district spokesman Jay Dillon told the AJC. The campus officer saw the gun in Marsh's parked car Tuesday morning, Dillon said.

Marsh was charged with loitering and for having a weapon on school grounds, according to booking records. He was booked into the Cobb County jail, where he was being held Wednesday night without bond.

Marsh's home address is located about 10 miles from the school.
