Roswell received top honors for celebration of the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos and also its popular street party Alive in Roswell.

They were included in six awards that Roswell received at the Southeast Festival and Event Association's Kaleidoscope Awards, which recognizes high achievement in the festival and event industry throughout the southeastern U.S.

Dia De Los Muertos won first place for Best New Event. The Mexican festival translates to Day of the Dead and celebrates people who died with music and dancing. Roswell is already planning the November 2020 festival.

In other categories, Gate City Brewing Co. placed second in the Best Sponsor category for its support of Alive in Roswell. The monthly Canton Street festival is held April through October.

“Their sponsorship has elevated [Alive in Roswell] to a signature event,” said Chris Ward, Roswell Special Events manager.

Alive in Roswell won the city second place for Best Website, as well as third place for Best Video and Best Photo categories.
