Roswell considering updated plan for arts
The Roswell Arts Commission will meet noon Sunday at the Cultural Arts Center of Roswell, 950 Forest St., to talk about the city’s future as an arts destination.
Former commission chair and current member Rochelle Mucha said the group will weigh a slate of recent consultant-firm recommendations updating the city’s roughly 15-year-old arts plan. Mucha said the group will consider vetting the overall plan as well as identifying specific year-one priorities and likely requesting the city fund them in this year’s budget.
Mucha said among short-term priorities considered important are: setting aside a percentage in capital improvement projects to commission public art for them, creating structure and staff to support and grow the arts, and weighing marketing and communications efforts.
The council is set to review the plan again Feb. 10, with final approval set Feb. 23.
