Andretti Indoor Karting and Games will ask the Roswell Planning Commission Tuesday night to give the green light for construction of two outdoor go-cart tracks.

The large entertainment complex on Ga. 9 already has an indoor track. It wants to build the outdoor tracks on the Houze Way side of the building.

Andretti is seeking a variance so it doesn’t have to provide as much landscaping as required in the highway commercial zoning.

At a September meeting, the city design review board expressed concerns about noise and asked for a study.

According to documents on the city website, Arpeggio Acoustic Consulting of Atlanta said the operation of 20 carts might be audible at a town home  community at the corner of Houze Road and Houze Way. The authors of the noise study estimated the track would be within the city’s noise ordinance during daytime, but had the potential to exceed nighttime noise limits.

The planning commission meeting starts at 7:30 a.m. in city hall. The issue is scheduled to come before the city council Nov. 8.
