Abernathy Road west of Ga. 400 and some surrounding streets in Sandy Springs will be closed weekends starting Saturday, Sept. 29, for work related to the reconstruction of the Ga. 400/I-285 interchange in the top-end Perimeter area of North Fulton and DeKalb counties.
A Facebook posting by Sandy Springs says the Georgia Department of Transportation will close Abernathy from Glenridge Parkway/Mercedez Benz Drive to Ga. 400, as well as part of Glenridge Parkway and the Ga. 400 northbound ramp to Abernathy/Sandy Springs, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30, and the same hours Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7.
To detour, Ga. 400 motorists exiting at Abernathy should turn east on Abernathy, toward Dunwoody, to Peachtree Dunwoody Road; right on Peachtree Dunwoody to Mount Vernon Highway; right on Mount Vernon to Glenridge Drive; and right on Glenridge back to Abernathy. Those heading to Glenlake Parkway should continue north on Glenridge.
