Rezoning, conditional use OK’d for McDonough site

The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted May 21 to approve a rezoning for an 87-acre tract at 728 Elliott Road while also reversing a Zoning Advisory Board denial of a conditional use request for the same property.
The zoning is being changed to R-2 (Sewer) to make way for a single-family residential subdivision. The site is on the east side of Elliott Road near its intersection with Campground Road. A total of 10 conditions were attached to the approval. Those included specifics regarding site distances at the subdivision entrance and the preservation of property for a future Campground Road Extension crossing, among other details.
The conditional use request was to allow a conservation subdivision, and it was approved with seven conditions. Both actions passed unanimously.
