DeKalb County residents will gather Tuesday to strategize how to save the Scott Candler Library, which is slated to close April 1.

The library board of trustees voted to close the South DeKalb branch and reduce hours at other libraries to meet a $3 million cut to the library system’s budget this year. The County Commission has voted to cut $36.3 million from the total county budget.

A community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the library at 2644 McAfee Road.

The fight to save the library initiated with 12-year-old Sekondi Landry, who is collecting signatures on a petition.
