Atlanta got a middling rank in a new report by a coalition of cycling and walking advocates that compared the 51 largest cities in the country.

The city ranked 18th out of 51 for share of commuters who get around by bike or by foot, and 27th for safety of such commuters. Boston topped both rankings.

The report by the Alliance for Biking & Walking was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with support from AARP and Planet Bike. It also ranked states, and calculated funding and facilities for bikes and pedestrians: www.peoplepoweredmovement.org.
