A man who raped a woman he was showing around Buckhead was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, nine years after the attack.

Curtis Green, now 40, was convicted in 2005 but was granted a new trial, which was held this week.

Prosecutors say Green, who was 31 at the time, persuaded the out-of-town visitor, whom he had just met, to let him give her a tour in her car on April 20, 2002.

After driving the 26-year-old woman around Buckhead, Green took the woman to a residential area, where he pulled a gun on her and ordered her into the back seat.

Prosecutors say he then ripped the woman’s clothes off and ordered her to perform sexual acts. She was able to escape unclothed and run for help.

Green was caught during a traffic stop three months later, driving the victim's car.

The victim identified Green from a photo lineup. Another woman also testified that Green raped her during a similar attack a day earlier in 2002, and forced her to flee nude.

The case was heard before Fulton County Judge Hilton Fuller.
