Rain is on the way, and lots of it.
Beginning Sunday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers, and the chance remains above 60 percent through Tuesday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.
Nitz expects a round of showers early Sunday with possible heavy downpours and rumblings of thunder at times.
“A second round of rain comes in as we head to [Sunday] afternoon and evening,” Nitz said. “Once the wet weather arrives, it’s going to stick around for a few days.”
Nitz said metro Atlanta can expect lots of clouds and periods of rain heavy at times in the early part of the week.
“We’ll keep some rain around Tuesday and even into Wednesday some scattered showers are possible,” he said.
The clouds and showers will keep daytime highs Sunday in the mid 70s, but the highs Monday will reach around 80 and the daytime temperatures will be in the mid 80s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The nighttime lows will be in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.
