A $90,000 road project will soon close a span of Piedmont Road in Marietta for a day and a half.

Crews will close Piedmont from Canton Road to Morgan Road starting at 5 a.m. on Friday, June 8 to "no later than noon" on June 9, according to the Cobb County Department of Transportation.

Torie Anderson, Cobb DOT spokeswoman, said funding comes from the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST.

In addition to replacing a section of railroad track, she said, the project will also improve drainage and add asphalt and sidewalks.

There will be digital signs to guide motorists.
