Public comment invited in Woodstock police accreditation

Community members and agency personnel are invited to comment next week
as a team of law enforcement assessors visit the Woodstock Police Department as part of a voluntary accreditation process.
The public information session is to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday in city center chambers, 8534 Main St.
Those who cannot attend can submit comments by telephone between 2 and 4 p.m. Tuesday by calling 770-592-6000 ext. 1166. Comments are limited to 10 minutes each. Written comments can be sent to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Inc., 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320 Gainesville VA 20155.
Woodstock Police Chief Calvin W. Moss said CALEA will examine all aspects of the department’s policy and procedures, management, operations and support services. Accreditation, which is for four years, requires compliance with 189 standards and annual report and remote, web-based assessments attesting to continued compliance. To review the standards, contact Jim Free, 770-592-6000 ext. 1144.
